TM Crusoe Posts: 671 | Just bought this little lime-green lamp, to hang down beside the sofa.... Yes, yes. I know it is a bright colour, however my home need some colour with all them 70's earth tones that I have around the place. Also. I found this little neat thing for my Commodore64. PI-1541 and FastLoader cartridge combination. Finally.... I have bought yet another RGBtoHDMI adaptor for my Amiga collection. This time version2 that are an universal OCS/ECS adaptor, controlled by a jumper. That way, it can be used for all machines with DIP socketed Denise. It can still not display the higher resolutions that ECS provides. However none of them were used for the old 1985 to 1992 games at all. It also eliminates flicker on interlaced screenmodes. For the price. This is the absolute best solution for modern display on the Amiga. Just use the lowest smoothing filther, and you get a good result without any screen lag whatsoever that the naked eye can detect. Uploading as of now. Again... Sorry about my inferior English. I only speak English on my YouTube channel. (and having two beers, won't help eighter)

Rise MP6 Posts: 263 | Nice one, I do like that 500 desktop! Today, I changed the coolant in the Corsair H-50 AIO in my XP gamer. The thing must be a dozen years old at least. Surprisingly, it still had a fair bit of coolant in there and not too many bits of shit came out. A 50-50 mix of distilled water and blue car anti-freeze went in. It sounds quieter at least and helped pass an hour.

Back in 2006, I wondered how these liquid cooling systems would play out in the future. Guess I found the answer now. :-D Nice job on the refurbishment, and good all that came out. Looking at your words, I could not help but thinking about this bizarre Japanese English lesson video.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKjaFG4YN6g And thanks for the words on my a500-Desktop. I did put a number of hours into it. :-)

Rise MP6 Posts: 263 | Oh my word! You swine, that's gonna bugger up my sleeping pattern and my youtube recommendations for weeks now! Aye, I wasn't too sure about those AIO's. I got that when they first came out but moved on to a proper system with a reservoir. They are a decent, cheap and simple alternative to a good air cooler but with the advantage of being slightly quieter. People make the mistake of mounting the rad with the pipes at the top. Or with the rad lower than the CPU. This leaves an air-gap the weak pump can't always overcome. Especially as it ages and fluid is lost. I think mine had lost some fluid over the years as the last few cold boots it had made a bit of noise. Noise means air so that's why I investigated. I got an additional half of a big syringe of fluid into it over what I got out but left a bit of room for thermal expansion. It's quiet as a mouse again now.

TM Crusoe Posts: 671 | Was not able to resist, when I found out that they had one Retrotink2x-Mini left on Pixelperfect in Ireland. It was the purple one that was left, and I normally don't like these colours, yet it seems to fit it better than clear. What IS it with me and buying "the last one in stock"? I mean... I bought the last C64-C case in black that was on PixelWizard. And yup.... The woman in question, that I am writing with. We have more in common than first meets the eye. We both hate sports in the tele, we both love big portions of meat and not only are we metal-heads we also like much the same. She do not want to move in, or have someone move in to her, before dating at least one year. Our homes are our personal space. And she loves to play Giana Sisters.... So far, perfect. We have agreed on waiting to meet up, before Covid-19 restrictions are lifted more in Februaery, or if we get vaccinated before that. If this ends up getting serious. Then I will end up with a woman, that do not care how much vintage stuff I have, unless every square meters are covered in old parts. And that is not the way I want to live. I have a corner that my stuff are in. Edited by Brostenen 2021-01-14 11:41 PM

However I sat her down at a bench table and explained in slow and simple details as to why I said no to her. No idea where my views sit. On the societal side of things, largely conservative, but at the same time, I don't think it's any of my business what people do on their own private property - that doesn't mean I cannot judge their actions, however, if they choose to make those actions public, nor does it mean I can't criticize a society that is broken. As such, I shall criticize the men for being weak and the women for being control freaks who look for that sort. The metal head thing is much the same here, at best you'll find one who listens to Guns 'n' Roses (which isn't metal, in my mind) and then they get arsey when you say a band they don't know and then go silent. Luckily that was never too important to me. The 'gamer girls' are the same, as they usually just call themselves that because they played Farmville once. Luckily those sorts are always ugly and annoying, so I never even bothered pursuing one. Oh, you think nineteen is bad? Wait until you have a thirteen year old on your street getting a massive crush on you, it's awkward as hell, like you're weary of taking out your garbage because you know she'll show up at your gate and start bothering you. Tou keep telling her to go away and she keeps showing up, going so far as to actually knock at your door and ask if they can do anything for you - I went to the parents at that point and told them to keep her off the street, because some day she'll go to some guy's house who would do something unpleasant. Probably just as well I don't like children, not in that way, not in any way at all really. For the record, I wouldn't even consider any woman under twenty five. But no, if you're a man, you'll get nowhere here, you have to be a whiny little faggot if you want a relationship and you'd better want a bad one, to be a little paypig. That kind of thing isn't for me. The nurses and ex-army thing wasn't just a random statement. Most people I know are single, but a while ago, me and a friend noticed that the only people we know who are in relationships are all either nurses or military people. Over the years, I've gotten quite good at ignoring the nagging voice in the back of my head. It used to piss me off, I used to think there was something wrong with me, that I was ugly or unlikeable, but it suddenly clicked that when I was younger, I never had a girlfriend or even a friend from my city, all of them were from out of town. As such, it's a problem with the people here, which figures as most of them don't even speak English, they speak a unique dialect with limited words instead, which I don't speak, so they can't understand a word I'm saying, so it's impossible to converse with them. If it's not that, they're Slavic and I don't speak their language either and find their women repulsive. I'd move to a different city, but I can't, so there's nothing I can do about it. On a lighter note, I ordered a CGA card and an EGA card, solely to see if I can get them to work on different monitors. Probably not, but I can't do worse than the supposed converters that never work.

TM Crusoe Posts: 671 | Nice.. Ega and CGA are sweet. You might want to look into that RGBtoHDMI solution that were made for BBC Mikro's. Yup, I know itnis an upscaler, however for the price, and the quality it delivers. Then it is the perhaps most interresting modern device that have come out for our hobby, the last couple of years. It can do all sort of machines. Like the Beep, Archie, Tandem, EGA, CGA, Amiga and what not. There is a seperate and extra board, that makes a complete upscaler useable for both digital and analog signals. It is rather cheap as well. Some 30 euro plus the price of an RaspberryPI-Zero. I am using the spinoff Amiga version for my A500's. And it is an awesomme device. For mine, I paid 25 euro plus the PI and we all have SD cards anyway. I am suggesting this, because we can allways get a vintage machine, however CRT monitors are becomming rarer and rarer these days, and at some point, they can not be sources, unless one pay a kidney and a liver. The quality is no lag at all, pixel perfect and better than a frame meister. And only a fraction of the cost. You need a television or monitor, that can do at least 1080p in resolution. Or a monitor that can do the same. I am using a HDMI-DVI cable for mine. And the project is open source. Perfect for that day, you have no working CRT. I am decent, and I would do the exact same as you. If a 13 year old had a crush at me and acted that way. These girls need to begin exploring parts of adulthood with boys of their age. When they are 15 years older, then they can begin dating old farts like us. I think that is the best way to grow up. Make life experiences with people ones own age, when one is that young. And they can do whatever, just remember that condom and only people their own age. Because as you say. At some point, they will end up in the hands of a dangerous man. We do not want that, do we? After all, we are decent people. I am wery liberal in what people choose to do. Hell... If two men want to have gay sex at the bar, then I will just turn my back. All I demand is they keep quiet. Out of sight, out of mind. 4 or 5 years ago, I was at the annual carneval in Aalborg in Denmark. And I found my self sitting with like 25 alternatives. That is goth's, wican's, metal heads, emo's and vampires.... They were all friendly. However a couple that were Vampire goth's asked permission to drink someone's blood. They asked and asked, not because they were given a no, but because they wanted to be 100 percent sure that the yes was a yes and they got the permission from the doner. Now. During those 20 minutes, two pop-chicks had found their way to our spot. It was secluded. And for some reason they sat down and followed that discussion were they asked for permission. And when they found that spot were the skin bleeds a lot by a tiny cut, then these girls freaked out and was all like "eewww". I told them that they were warned, and that all they had to do, was to look the other way. I just thought that then I have seen that in life as well. A little older, a little wiser... Naaa.... As long as people are involved, are ok with it, then they can do to them self as they please. One just have to look in the other direction. However, if the doner had not said yes, then every single 25 of the people, had kicked their ass like without blinking. I guess the two young woman, had an awakening to that side of life.... Kind of rude awakening, yet they were warned. Lesson of the story. Do not drink that much, you might not like what you see.

I can use the small push buttons to chage and select stuff, however it is controlled by FB64 as well (C64 file browser) To be honest. This is one of the best things that I have bought for my Commodore64. Now I am only waiting for that Retrotink 2x Mini, and if it is running perfect with LCD monitors, then I will put the CRT television away that I am using for C64. It is the only machine that I have yet to find an LCD solution for. Nice to see the report on NT and Radeon9800 cards. I might give it a go, once I have my Commodore situation sorted out.

TM Crusoe Posts: 671 | It is a cycle correct 1541 floppy drive emulator. It has a bare metal operating system, and in a folder, I can have all the D64 or D81 files that I want. Well. Up to the storage limit of the card. It is the Gotek equivelant of the 1541 disk drive. The PI1541 drive, is compatible with a number of Commodore 8 bit machines, like C16, Vic20, C64 and C128. This cycle correct, means that games and software that did not work on SD2EIC, are not being loaded correctly, like Testdrive 2. Uhhh... And it is basically a RaspberryPI-Zero, with a custom hat. And in this case, it is physically combined in one unit, that also have an Epyx FastLoader cartridge. Short video about it. Edited by Brostenen 2021-01-19 6:27 AM

TM Crusoe Posts: 618 Location: Hull, UK | I've actually been contemplating parting with my C64s, they never get used any more and I need the money to replace my Xeon, as it seems the PCI-E bus has died. Only thing I've had in the mail lately is an Audigy 2 I ordered to replace the dead one in the Presler. That one has developed a strange issue where it seems to be stuck in 8-Bit mono mode at around 11050KHz, so it's no good for music production any more. Finding another one with the same front panel connector has proven tricky. The one which showed up doesn't use the same connector and is also heavily corroded in places from leaky caps, so in the bin it goes. Have to wonder if there were any cards with comparable features around at that time, because I don't know of any. The only one I can think of is a few years older, uses a crappy Crystal codec (far too noisy) and was made by Guillemot with some Allahu Snackbar type name and a rootkit included on the driver CD to trash your Windows 98SE installation. On the blood thing. I've come to think, over the years, that everyone is into something at least a little weird, and those who say they aren't are either lying or just haven't figured it out yet. TM Crusoe Posts: 671 | #DXZeff Yup. People are always into wierd stuff. No matter what that would be. We have all heard those horror stories of people using a vacume cleaner, that they found out the hard way, that a vacume cleaner with a metal shaft was not a good idea after all. But yeah, no matter if it is running naked down the street or the more extreme stuff. You are spot on in regards to what you say. Like in this small town that I know of, then there were this dude who had found this out. The staff at the hospital knew that every single saturday at 10pm, he would show up to have stuff removed from his ass. That was like a well known secret in that town. And he did it for all these years, that people just accepted that this was who he is. You can fetch a good price on those C64's these days. Just have them serviced and recapped, in order to gain max revenue. A good, tested and recapped one, can bring in some money. :-) Personally, I am thinking of parting with nearly all x86 AT class/era hardware that are not in a working machine. Almost all is in working machines as of now. Only a tiny bit in the box of spareparts.
