OK so I am very proud of this thing mainly because how cheap it was for the performance so why not show it off.
I have this system for a couple of years now but now it's better than ever. It started out as Athlon X2 2.7@3.3ghz with 2gb of ram and 7600gs, later athlon x3 2.9@3.5ghz 6gb ram radeon 5830 and now finally Phenom X4 965 3.4@3.9Ghz 8gb of overclocked dual ch ddr2 and 2gb radeon 6950.
This summer I went into a repair shop looking for asus socket 939 board and the guy let me go through his old and broken stuff of which i took so much that I and my friend had trouble carrying. Paid 10 euro for all that. In the stuff I took was a dead Radeon HD 6950. It would not display anything. But after cooking in the oven for a few times I got it stable. But I had to use a custom fan speed curve because it would crash if it gets above 60c so it's loud as hell. Then I flashed a 6970 bios to it and that unlocked some shaders and performance.
The Phenom X4 I got for 5 euro because of lots of bent pins. Got it to post @4.3Ghz, stable and running @3.9 or 4.1 if I lower fsb and increase multi.
Ga-ma770-ud3 motherboard was 6 euro.
750W psu was arround 10 euro.
Some of the hard drives I already had, but the three in RAID 0 were 2euro each.
Sound card: Sound blaster 0460 is taken from a pc I bought for 5 euro.
Ram was 10 euro
And the crt monitor was 3euro. Everything on it looks great.
Total price: around 50 euro (44 pounds) with lots of extra parts.
This is my fastest system. It runs GTA 5, fallout 4 almost maxxed out @1600x1200, skyrim on ultra 1600x1200 .
It has 7 hard drives: 3 in raid 0 for open world games, one for music, one for storage, one for OS, and usb one for extra storage.
It also has my homemade tube amp for headphones and small speakers. And headphones are a must with this 12 fan and screaming gpu fan beast.
Now for some pics:

So yeah I think it's pretty good value for money, runs any newer game i throw at it under windows 7 and some older games under XP. And I am posting this from it. So what do you guys think?

I don't blame you for wanting to show that off, 50 Euro is definitely crazy value for money. I think the motherboard in the server costs about that alone on the second hand market, and it's only a puny Atom 330 - personally, I think they're asking too much for them and your rig there re-enforces my beliefs on that.

Some people seem to have me painted as an AMD hater, and that's not true. I have a Phenom 920 which is an awesome processor, but unfortunately the motherboard I have for it isn't very good. It was free luckily, so maybe some day I'll get a better motherboard for it. Still, from the benchmarks it looks like your Phenom 965 should be able to run most anything for quite a while yet. Also, love the tube amp. Whilst I'm a transistor guy, I do like seeing custom electronics like that and have to smile at the use of a food container - a lot of my earlier electronics projects were built inside old butter tubs.

For the record, I don't mind images being posted inline using the IMG BBS code; http://forum.dxzeff.com/help-mbbscode.asp unless I've unwittingly broken that feature. For anyone else here, feel free to show off your stuff too, I'll probably start posting some of mine soon or maybe we need some trivial threads like "Got this recently" or "Played this today" or "Messed with this lately" kind of thing.

Thanks. Almost all my computer and electronics stuff, including some hard drives, ram, psu and heatsink in this Phenom system came from fleamarkets. You can't be sure if it works when you buy it, but if it does the value is great, and if it doesn't the loss is small most of the time. And most people are willing to negotiate the price.
I actually started out in electronics by making simple transistor amplifiers but I enjoy making tube amps more because I like tubes for better linearity (only triodes) and ability to withstand huge overloads briefly. I think my next project will be tube-transistor hybrid amp. Most likely in a food container :D
A few years ago I had an Athlon 64 4000+ single core 2.4Ghz @ 3.1Ghz and that thing was a beast. Been an AMD fan ever since.
I agree with your thread suggestions. Reading threads like "Messed with this lately" is always fun and it makes me want to get off my lazy ass and mess with something myself. And seeing what people recently got or played is always interesting

Pretty damn good value-performance, good job!
(Reminds me, I should make a thread about my £40 Phenom II X4 940 rig, unlike your system mine has atleast "something" wrong in every area, the thing shouldn't even post)

Nice to see I'm not the only one who is interested in exploiting AM3 as an extremely cheap and extremely fast platform for gaming. I've always been a cheap-ass when it comes to PC hardware and never pay more than £25-£30 for anything these days. Sometimes that's harder to achieve, like getting hold of a decent 750W+ PSU is proving to be very hard.

Anyway, I've just acquired a Phenom II X4 955 (Black Edition) plus an X6 1055T. I didn't want both but that's the way the eBay cookie crumbles sometimes. Now I can benchmark the fuck out of them both and sell the inferior one. It's fair to say that overclocking will be a serious consideration in the process. I'm literally just waiting for the PSU before I can build this mofo and I, too, am looking forward to playing GTA V
