Hehe :]
The series on your channel - I got some fun from it. Really. Cured my evening time a bit.
BTW, your pronunciation is really recognizable (for me as a foreigner); I'm still rely on a subtitles - that's kinda a bad habit. And those auto-generated ones are able to bring another portion of laugh:

PS the outro tune on part 13 of the LetsPlay: "that's the tune I would like to hear on my funerals", I would call it. The great one.

Windows 3.11 and MS-DOS. During that era my dad and I started expanding and upgrading the machine we had, a 486DX2 33 Mhz. It was amazing to go from standard VGA with 16 colors in Windows to higher resolutions and high color modes. We added a soundcard and a CD-ROM and jumped right into the MultiMedia (TM) trend. Suddenly I could playback video files and Video CD (although it wasn't always fast enough). I could play back and record audio. The first machine I tried to run demoscene productions on. And the games looked and sounded great.

Working in IT myself now I have some knowledge of the inner workings of it all, but things from that era still feel like magic to me.

Well, apart from Amiga Workbench, which was my first introduction to a computer with an OS. My favourite windows one is XP Pro 32 bit. I missed out on DOS due to my Amiga-isms. I went straight to a Win95 machine from that. During the 9x days, I just loved the emergence of 3d acceleration! Then, I loved Windows 2000 and the stability it brought. XP continued that and the low to mid 2000's is my favourite era for games. I have a few Windows 7 machines, all 64 bit but that where I got off the train. Win 8 and 10 do nothing for me so I'll have to make do with what I've got.

I'm currently contemplating updating my super stable XP gaming rig, because I can and because I must. I mean, you can't just leave things alone can you? Running well? I'll fix that, have some Crossfire and software raid! Ha!

Or I could have a big glass of Bourbon.... hmmm, choices.

As for me, i prefer to work on Windows 7 x64 SP2+ ESU. The most stable and feature-packed operating system of ms.
Runs pretty well on modern h/w, like 16c/32t 1950X/64Gb Ram/Nvme drive and 16Gb Radeon VII.

And definitely no Windows 10 thing. OS which is in permanent alpha-testing phase.
Something is constantly broken, printing, wifi of asio drivers of Asus STX II. Also i don't need ms telemetry and spying.

Windows XP brings some good memories. I have maxed out Dell Precision M4700 with ssd drive for that purpose.
Using latest WinXP Integral edition. On fast lan connection laptop can do 4K YT with 50-60% cpu load. Thta's regarding XP outdatedness.

Here is what i've done with Windows Server 2008 R2.
A bit of Vista vibes, in my opinion it is one of the most beautiful os of ms in terms of artistic value.

Currently i'm just testing it on dell m4700 and then transfer to main 1950x machine.

Switched to Ryzen 5950x lately. Windows 7 works buttery smooth.

As for Windows 3.11, it is for sure has cool vintage look,
but i prefer Windows 2000 - almost no bloat at all.
The most disgusting GUI is in Win10.

Aye, I keep meaning to build a Vista gamer. I have a spare DX10 card that would suit and enough decent hardware. Just space constraints are stopping me really.

I have fairly fond memories of it but maybe it's another pair of rose tinted spec's. Be good for shits and giggles tho...
